How Kybella® Works

Kybella® gets its brilliance from the body itself. We produce deoxycholic acid to break down dietary fat in other parts of the body. Kybella® takes this concept and concentrates it in the area under the chin, using deoxycholic acid to target that extra layer of fat we all hate. That fat takes a little time to dissolve, and while we all want to look as good as we can as quickly as possible, the slower results of Kybella® work to our advantage. Skin that has become lax due to submental fullness has time to tighten with the slowly dissolving fat cells, so the result is a much tighter, more sculpted and defined jawline and neck. Kybella® is administered by a trained specialist at Pure Beauty Medical Spa, someone who knows, based on your facial aesthetics, exactly where to place the injections. Patients typically require 2-4 Kybella® sessions which last approximately 30 minutes. The number of treatments depends on the amount of submental fullness you’re having treated and your aesthetic goals. While there’s very little downtime associated with Kybella®, patients experience some numbness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness after the treatment. These resolve within the first 24 hours and lessen in severity with each treatment.
Results are not immediate because the body needs time to dissolve and filter away the dead fat cells. This slow reduction of fat gives the skin time to tighten around your remodeled chin’s new shape, making the treatment more effective than laser fat reduction procedures. After 8-12 weeks, you’ll see a fairly significant reduction in submental fullness.
