Men spend, on average, over 1,000 hours of their lives shaving. Women spend more than 1,700 hours shaving in a lifetime. Imagine getting that time back and avoiding the daily chore of shaving, plucking, or waxing. At Pure Beauty Medical Spa, our laser hair removal treatments can give you back that time using a safe, effective, FDA approved method called CoolGlide.VIEW MORE PATIENT REVIEWS
How It Works
CoolGlide delivers light energy into the root of the hair follicles in the active growth phase. The pigment in the follicles absorbs the light, effectively destroying the hair. The cooling design of the CoolGlide laser soothes the skin as it works, so the treatment is as comfortable for the patient as it can possibly be. Unlike electrolysis, the CoolGlide laser hair removal system treats a larger area at once, so fewer treatments may be necessary to get the desired results.
What Areas of the Body Can Be Treated with Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal can be performed on almost any area of the body. Some areas are more sensitive than others, and topical numbing cream can be provided for maximum comfort. Common areas treated are the face, legs, arms, underarms, bikini area, chest, back, and more. Laser hair removal treatments are not recommended for areas close to the eyes, but virtually any part of the body where patients have unwanted hair can be treated with CoolGlide laser hair removal.
Risks, Side Effects, and Recovery
Laser hair removal is more than simply “zapping” the hair root. It’s a medical procedure and the risks, side effects, and benefits should carefully considered. Board certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Charles J. Sarosy has performed more than 6,000 cosmetic enhancement procedures, and is one of the most experienced in the area. His staff are highly qualified and trained on the latest facial rejuvenation procedures, and at Pure Beauty Medical Spa, patient care is the top priority.

Any medical procedure comes with risks, and laser hair removal is no exception. Because sun exposure makes laser hair removal less effective and complications more likely, patients are advised to limit sun exposure for six weeks before and after treatment. The most common side effects are skin irritation and redness, some mild swelling (much like the experience of waxing), and temporary pigmentation changes. These should disappear within hours of the procedure. Some more serious side effects, such as blistering, burns, or crusting are possible, and these too are generally temporary, subsiding after a few days. Sunscreen is highly recommended to protect treated skin.
Results
For a day or two following the procedure, patients experience a sunburn-like sensation of the treated area, which cool compresses and moisturizers may help. Patients who’ve had laser hair removal on the face are free to wear makeup the next day, provided there is no blistering of the skin.
Over the next month, the treated area will experience hair loss as the follicles die off. Repeated treatments are often necessary, with six being the average number of treatments required to fully eradicate the hair. As more treatments are performed, patients will experience greater hair loss and thinning of existing hair, until the last of the follicles die off. The result is smooth, hair free skin you’re sure to love.
