Frequently Asked Questions:
What exactly is the Pearl?
The Pearl is a FDA-cleared resurfacing laser by Cutera with a 2790nm wavelength for the treatment of mild to severe tone and textural skin imperfections on the face and occasionally other areas of the body. It has been described by doctors as a more advanced, controlled, and safer version of the chemical peel.
How does the Pearl work?
During treatment, pulses of light are delivered in a controlled fashion to the top layer of skin (epidermis). The damaged top layer is then gently removed while the laser simultaneously sends energy into the deeper layers of skin (dermis), thereby stimulating the production of new collagen for long-term benefits. Shortly after treatment, the body creates a natural dressing that forms over the skin to help protect and heal the resurfaced area. The protective dressing will peel and slough off over the period of about a week. Once peeling has complete, patients will enjoy clearer, smoother, and healthier skin.
How many treatments are recommended?
Most patients reach their goals in 1-2 treatments. However, the number of treatments needed varies depending on factors such as skin type, severity of skin imperfections, as well as patients’ unique desires. Prior to treatment, each patient will receive a thorough consultation and skin assessment in order to determine the best laser treatment plan to achieve beautiful results.
Who is a candidate for a Pearl treatment?
Pearl is best for those with light to medium skin tone looking to repair sun damage, discoloration, smooth fine lines, and simply reclaim youthful, radiant skin. Pure Beauty offers complimentary consultations to help determine if Pearl is the treatment for you.
How does a Pearl Fractional treatment feel?
Is there downtime associated with Pearl Fractional?
Yes. Patients should allow for approximately 5 to 7 days of “social downtime.” Skin will take on a sunburned look immediately following treatment and there may be temporary swelling. Patients are sent home with a set of post-care instructions that consist of regular vinegar soaks and ointment application to help accelerate the healing process.
How does Pearl compare to other laser treatments?
Unlike other resurfacing laser treatments that can often be unpredictable, Pearl delivers desirable results quickly, safely, comfortably, and with minimal downtime.
