Fine lines and wrinkles present one of the biggest cosmetic concerns of the aging process. They can often show up on the faces of individuals who are in their 20s and then increase in severity over time. While fine lines and wrinkles are not damaging to your physical health, they can be damaging to self-esteem. Until recently, there were not many things that individuals with fine lines and wrinkles could do other than cover them with thick, cake-like makeup. Fortunately, modern technology and advance sin medication and procedures allows trained professionals to help get rid of fine lines and wrinkles through the use of injections and laser therapies.

How are fine lines and wrinkles formed?
Over time, repetitive motions and facial expressions cause the skin to become wrinkled. Similar to a piece of paper that has been crumpled or folded repeatedly, a face will eventually show its own lines.

Individuals who smoke, are in the sun for long periods of time, and those who experience a lot of stress are more susceptible to wrinkles.

How are fine lines and wrinkles treated?

The first step for many people with fine lines and wrinkles is to choose injection therapy. It is a minimal procedure that does not carry high risk factors. The most common type of injections that are used are Botulinum toxin type A, commonly referred to as Botox. For deeper wrinkles or ones that do not respond well to Botox, collagen injections may be used. These injections are performed in a medical professional’s office as an outpatient procedure and are generally affordable.

For individuals that do not want injections or who have not responded well to injections in the past, laser treatments are a newer procedure that can improve the look of skin and will also be longer lasting than injections. Laser resurfacing is the most common laser procedure that is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles. In this procedure, lasers work in a way that encourages the production of collagen underneath the skin’s surface, reducing the appearance and actual existence of the wrinkles.

If you have been experiencing wrinkles and lines, it is important to know that there are treatments that will allow you to feel younger, look better, and not have to worry about constantly using make up to look different. Injections and laser treatments are both excellent options for people that are suffering with wrinkles and fine lines and can be used on nearly any skin type to create an even texture.
